ANITA EXPLORES THE INNER SHAPES OF THE HUMAN SOUL AND ITS PERCEPTION OF FEELINGS.
THROUGH HER OWN LANGUAGE SHE AIMS TO UNDERSTAND HER OWN AND OTHERS' IDENTITY, SEXUALITY, SELF-CONSCIOUSNESS AND AWARENESS, AND THE WAY US HUMANS DEAL WITH OUR PERSONALITIES AND EGOS.
THE REPRESENTATION OF THESE HUMAN FEATURES IS DEFINED BY SHAPES, BLOCKS, MOVEMENT AND COLOUR, AND BY THE RELATIONSHIP SOME OF THESE HAVE WHEN PLACED NEXT TO EACH OTHER.
LIKE THE DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF HUMANS’ PERSONALITIES LAY ONTO EACH OTHER, CONTRADICT EACH OTHER AND DEFINE EACH OTHER, THE COLOURS AND SHAPES THAT REPRESENT HER PERCEPTION OF REALITY FOLLOW THE SAME PATH. PATTERNS AND SHAPES TRANSLATE FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS, CREATING A CONNECTION BETWEEN THE COLOURS SHE USES AND HOW SHE RESPONDS TO THE FLOW THEY CREATE.
BIG PART OF HER INFLUENCES HAS ROOTS IN THE EUROPEAN MASTERPIECES OF THE BAROQUE, RENAISSANCE AND BIBLICAL ART AS WELL AS IN THE DYNAMISM, MOVEMENT AND COLOUR OF THE ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONIST MOVEMENT. SHE IS INTERESTED IN THE WAY US HUMANS HAVE BEEN FIRST PERCEIVED AND THEN PORTRAYED OVER TIME, GIVING PARTICULAR ATTENTION AT HOW THE WOMEN REPRESENTED IN THE WORKS OF THE PAST LACKED IN AUTHENTICITY AND FAIRNESS. THROUGH HER WORKS, SHE AIMS TO INCLUDE AN AUTHENTIC FEMALE GAZE WHERE THE MALE GAZE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN THE ONLY AND THE MAIN CHARACTER OF THE STORIES SHE EXPLORES.
